You may lose some or all of the money you invest. SME investments are not covered by the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC). Past returns do not guarantee future performance.

Illiquidity Risk

Your investment may be difficult or impossible to exit before the end of the investment term. While Mali operates a secondary market, there is no guarantee of a buyer at a price you find acceptable.

SMEs can fail, underperform, or face challenges that reduce or eliminate your returns. Economic downturns, competition, management failure, and other factors can affect business performance.

Dilution Risk

A business may issue additional ownership units in future funding rounds, which could dilute your percentage stake and reduce your proportional share of future earnings.

Dividends and revenue-share payments depend on business performance. There is no guarantee that a business will make any distributions during your investment period.

Despite our due diligence process, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all information provided by businesses. There is a risk that information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or fraudulent.

Platform Risk

In the unlikely event that Mali ceases operations, your investments and wallet balances would be managed by an appointed administrator. Client funds are held in segregated accounts for this reason.

Regulatory Risk

Changes in Kenyan law, CMA regulations, or tax rules could affect the returns on your investments or the operation of the Mali platform.

Investor Suitability

Mali investments are suitable for investors who:

  • Understand and accept the risk of losing their entire investment
  • Do not require immediate access to the invested capital
  • Have diversified investments and are not putting all their savings into Mali
  • Have completed Mali's KYC verification and investor assessment
  • Are investing on a long-term basis (typically 1-5 years)
